Can braces cure my TMJ?

Hello doctor,

I am looking into getting braces but i believe that I suffer from TMJ. My jaw is always hurting and i sometimes can only get it properly opened a few inches. Would i be able to get a brace to correct my crooked teeth and would this affect my jaw pain any further? I really, really want straight teeth but if it is bad for my jaw then i guess i won’t be able to have it.

Whats the best brace without headgear?

hi

could you tell me the best braces for severe crowding and fangs? All my teeth are bunched together and it just looks hideous. I would guess that i would need a pretty advanced brace to sort it all but i would really like to avoid wearing a head brace as they just look terrifying! What braces would you suggest as being the most effectivve? thanks for any help you can give doctor, this has been bugging mr for quite a while. thank you for your time and assistance.

How long til I can talk normal again?

Hi, there, i hope you are having a good day

I have just got a set of fixed braces to fix my teeth problems and it has been about two weeks and im still finding it kinda hard to talk. can you tell me how long does it usually take for a person to be able to talk normally again, when wearing a metal, fixed brace? It is pretty embarrassing and affects me every day so any help you could give would be great.

Whats the truth about metal braces?

Hey Raha, Iam due to get fixed metal braces in the coming weeks, but i’av heard lots of horror storys about braces though. such as snapping wires, ulcers and cuts, broken brackets and bands. I av tried researching it but all I can find is pictures and storys that make me feel worse. Is there anything that you could tell me to put my mind at ease? I really need these braces fitting but with how I feel at the moment then Iam not going to get them. Thanks so much for reading this and I hope I havent wasted your time

Can I get braces at 13?

Hi Adam, Iam 13 and my teeth are really getting me down. theyr horrid! really crooked, twisted with massive gaps. all my mates have really nice teeth and i want mine to look like theirs. iav told my dentist but he’s not done anything to help me, and just keeps saying that i have to wait til iam older, how do i get braces? i just want them so badly that i wouldnt care if they were train tracks, i just want them fixing, espically for my prom, ino thats like 3years away but i knew it takes ages for your teeth to get straight, please please help me and tell me how to get them sorted

Is it better to whiten teeth before or after braces?

Hello Dr. Qureshi, I av just turned 40 and going through a divorce. I was thinking about having adult braces fitted to straighten my teeth and to have them professionally whitened, what would be the best order to do this or does it not really matter? Also could you advice me on which are the best type of adults braces? and the price of them, even though this doesn’t matter as my soon to be ex will be paying? Thanks so much this will really help on boosting my confidence up back to when I was 21 🙂

Can I get braces again?

Hi, I’m 17 years of old and I just feel the need to have braces again to straightened my teeth back to how they were after my other brace.. I had them first at 11/12, I only had to wear them for 6 months and then had to wear a retainer for the remainder of the next 6 months. My teeth have, gone rather crooked from not wearing the brace as much was required. But is there any chance I can get my teeth done again, and this time permanently? But is there by any chance I can get an invisible brace, that I read on a website I came across earlier this evening? Whats the chance on getting this done on the NHS also?

What do I do about my broken bracket?

I av had my braces on for around a month now, but i think my dentist did something round. I’av had a slight numbing pain at the root of all my teeth so it making it very difficult to eat and drink. But the other day when I actually managed to eat something one of the brackets came loose and is no longer attached to my tooth. Is it just me or is it my dentist doing something wrong? also do I ring up and get a emergency appointment or just leave til my check up in 2months? thanks

Can braces fix my overcrowding problem?

Dear Raha Sepehrara,
please could you give me a little bit of advice? I had a brace as a child, but after my ‘train tracks’ were removed i never wore my retainer. this was fine for years until i hit my mid-twenties and my wisdom teeth all came through, now i feel my mouth is extremely overcrowd and iam not sure what to do. Iam no long registered with a NHS dentist therefore treatment will have to come out of my own pocket. please advice me on the cheapest treatment for this

Can my son get braces?

Hello Dr. Qureshi, Iam writing to you because I am a concerned mother. My son is due to start secondary school in september and has rather crooked teeth, our family dentist said she wants to wait til he’s older then refer him for a NHS brace. However I would like him to start secondary school with straighter teeth, I know its not possible for them to be perfect in 2months but Iam sure that we can start? He’s a really shy little boy and I dont want him to get bullied so whats the best method to get his teeth sorted? Money isn’t a issue, thansk for your help
