How much does gum grafting cost?

December 16th, 2011
Q.

Hi Doctor! I am currently in the process of straightening my teeth with orthodontic braces. I am 25 years old and my problems started when my dentist established that I clench my teeth when I sleep. I am have a malocclusion which the braces are sorting out well. I have four teeth which have receeded and I’m worried about them. Would you be able to let me know how much it would cost in the uk to have a gum graft completed?. Does the cost include just one tooth or would they work per site. I would need at least four gum grafts, and just wanted to know a realistic quote. Also would you be able to recommend any one for such a procedure. I am just worried that I have spend a substantial amount of money to have the brace and would like the receeding gums to be treated. Would it be best to have the gum graft once the brace comes off? Kindest regards

December 14th, 2011
Q.

I am a 35years old mother of 3 and I am currently in Nigeria but will be back in the Uk soon. My teeth is similar to the picture 7 of your gallery. What type of braces did you use and the cost? I am very worried because I can’t smile and it has given me a huge inferiority complex. I have seen other dentists here but I am not confident that they will do a good job. Please advice me on the braces, is invisalign or the hidden braces. Thanks fro your help as I await your reply. Thanks!

How safe is it having orthodontics abroad?

December 14th, 2011
Q.

I have been thinking about getting braces but cannot afford the lingual ones I want in the UK. What is the status on having orthodontics abroad now because I figure a lot of dentist go abroad to train and join groups etc. yet you so often hear horror stories about receiving treatment abroad. is it simply that people sill dont trust foreign clinics or is there a genuine concern with going abroad. if you can save money in the process then how can it be a bad thing? Im not saying this is what im doing and not listening to anything else, im trying to find out what’s best and consulting people in the know like yourself. what would you recommend on the subject?

I have an overbite I wish to fix for my wedding in May, is this possible?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

Hello Dr Patel,

I have a slight overbite (according to dentists but I think it’s huge) plus teeth that are not straight, especially my front teeth. I’m getting married next year May and was wondering if there is enough time to fix my teeth by orthodontic treatment.

The problem I have is cosmetic but affects my smile and confidence. I have heard about the Inman Aligner but it only fixes bottom teeth. I’m really conscious about having a great smile for the big day and want to know if there is enough time to fix them.

Thank you

Do I have to have a tooth extracted?

November 11th, 2011
Q.

hello DarSh, I have got to have braces, it something I have looked at doing for a long time. however my dentist thinks I need to have a tooth removed, I cant remember which one but to me he seemed to be going through the motions in a sense and i felt as though that’s just what he does and got the feeling he has done this before sort of thing. I have only had one tooth extracted before and I hated it- not a fan of needles for a start! my dads freidn who is also a dentist says its possible to have a brace and not have teeth removed and thinks that I may fit that bill. he also said if it could be avoided it’s better? I dont know who’s opinion to go with and a third option is now necessary. I know you can’t look at my teeth but what is your take on tooth extraction before the implementation of braces? thank you for any help you can give me

When is best for me to have braces?

November 2nd, 2011
Q.

hello doctor Patel (SO). I have been referred to my orthodontist from my dentist with recommendations to have braces fitted. I have crooked teeth and was promised to have them done when I was younger. I feel the dentist let me down and wanted me to be of an age whereby I had to pay for them- which I am now at. I feel a bit gutted about this but the issue is that I left college in June and took a year out before hopefully going to University next September, in this time I had hoped to travel. my main concern is that braces and appointments once I have had them fitted will hinder me from doing this which I am not going to get many more chances to do. Thing is I definitely don’t want them at uni! If I took a year out again between second and third year and travelled then, do you think I could have a brace now that would pull crooked teeth to a normal position by next September (obviously I can last a few months of uni with brace), so we’re looking at a year or so, what should I look at?

If I break my braces how far will it put me back in terms of treatment time?

November 2nd, 2011
Q.

HEllo, I’m a full brace wearer top an bottom- old train tracks. I have a question regarding the course of treatment involved with braces. If I damage my braces how far can it put me back?for example if, as I am on an approximate 18-10 month course of treatment, if I damage the braces and have to go to the dentist and have them fixed how long could it set me back? I was told that this could be the case when I had them and have been warned on my two adjustment appointments since then as well, but If for example I snap a wire then I don’t see how I could loose a lot of treatment time other than that spent waiting to have it fixed and indeed having it fixed? please could you help advise me’?? thanks
