How many aligners are normally needed to complete a case of Invisalign?

Q.
Hi, I am about to be having Invisalign treatment to sort out slightly crowded teeth. I dohowever have a problem that I want to clarify with yourself, who has comleted many similar cases. when you are consulting a patient and advising them how long treatment will take/ how many retainers they will personally need, what would you say is the average amount of retainers? I always thought it was four retainers for two weeks but I have now been told that I could need as many as six retainers over a period of three months (two weeks intervals). either take that option or have a more conventional option which is much longer, could you please advise me what I should expect and whether what I have been told is right or whether my orthodontist is off his head? cheers

Hi
I will try to reply to all your questions as thorough as I can, I am not sure whether you mean aligners or retainers, but I think you mean Invisalign aligners

question 1
what would you say is the average amount of aligners?

Answer 1

It depends on each case and your dentist should be able to give you an idea at the Clincheck appointment

Question 2
I always thought it was four retainers for two weeks but I have now been told that I could need as many as six retainers over a period of three months (two weeks intervals).

Answer 2

Usually I tell my patient to wear one set of aligners for 2 weeks and then change to the next one

I can’t comment on your treatment as I have not carried out an orthodontic assessment
