November 1st, 2011
Q.

Sir, I’m from India. My problem is that my front lower & upper teeth are bulging outwards and they are striking together.I’m finding difficult to close my mouth. Please guide me.Is there other options available instead of braces or clamps.I can’t afford the clamps upto 6 months.Upto that period what should I do?This problem started when I was 16 years old.I consulted doctor and they recommended me clamps.I used it for 6 months but my teeth become very loose and I left using it.After that the problem remained the same.I;m now 20.Please help me.

Can AcceleDent be used in conjunction with an existing brace system or would you be required to start again?

November 1st, 2011
Q.

Hello I have heard about Acceldent and wanted to know if it was to be used in conjunction with braces and what types if so as i presume it doesnt fit all types? I thought this may present issues if it went say with a traditional braces as the vibrateing and accelerated movement wuold loosen wires quick having an almost negative effect on the brace? if this is the case then does it mean the patient has to then visit the dentist more in order to have the brace altered .
also If I want this treatment for example would I have to start treatment again or would I be able to intergrate it with my current fixed device and system?

What is the fastest brace treatment for crooked teeth?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Hi Sharon- I am looking to have braces but I don’t want traditional ones as they are not quick enough. I have been offered a job in Florence, Italy that I am due to start next December and I wanted to sort out my smile before I went if this was possible. I was advised to go and see a specialist orthodontist but I don’t know where there is one local to me so I figure I’d ask one then visit my normal orthodontist. basically I have crooked teeth, quite badly on the bottom and very slightly on the top, I know you can’t see them but what do you think would be the quickest way to sort them out? Can you have invisalign on one row (top in my case) then another form on the bottom or does it not work like that? what would you recommend for straightening crooked teeth quickly?

My son fell off his bike causing excessive damage to his mouth. What corrective treatment should I seek?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

I need advise on what to do about my son’s teeth. A few weeks back my son fell of his push bike and smashed his front teeth in spectacular fashion. as a result he has had on of the two central incisors removed and the other is out of line with the rest of the teeth, the tooth between the central incisors and the left canine is chipped. he can have a veneer to fix this and an implant to replace the now extracted tooth. this leaves the un-aligned tooth exposed. would it be recommended to have a brace on this? the issue is that three teeth in a row would have had orthodontic treatment. would there be any issue having a brace or should he have the brace now, then have the implant and veneer fitted afterwards?

Why has my orthodontist tightened my bottom wire and placed lumps of glue behind my teeth?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Hello,
I haver had my braces on for just over a year now, and i had a check up earlier this week and my orthodontist said I was very close to being finished, and she tightened my bottom wire, and put two lumps of glue onto the back of my top teeth.
What exactly does this do, and how does it help? Does it make the teeth and bite move faster? It is very uncomfortable, and hard to eat!
Thank you very much.

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Hi Iam wondering if you can help me Iam considering getting the six month smile brace as my front teeth are starting to cross due to not being told to wear my retainer as a child. Iam slightly concerned what it looks like on as iam assuming its barley visible but there are hardly any pictures on line, suggesting it may look awful on? also I read a post on an american website that it stains really easily and goes yellow!! is this true?. Thank you for you help.

I have large protruding teeth at the front of my mouth with a crack, would I be suitable for braces?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Hi Doc,
I’m 24 and my four front upper teeth are big and protruding forward that when i close my mouth you can slightly see the two front teeth,i mostly avoid taking pictures while smiling since my teeth are big and facing outside, the worst thing i have a big gap between the two front teeth and are stained brown since i was young, of which i dont know the reason for the stain since am the only one in my family with stained two front teeth out of four children.
The two upper front teeth are so sensitive to cold drinks and i detect a crack across one teeth..so my fear is,is it possible i have the straightening braces without my cracked tooth falling down…and if yes for how long will i have them.
Thanks,i will appreciate your help.

I have gaps and a few other minor problems, how much would a brace cost for me?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

hi ian,

i am 27 years old and am considering having a brace fitted to straighten my front four top teeth its mainly needed to close gaps however the outside left of the four is slightly twisted, facing inwards, and the middle two are ever so slightly sticking out, and would need bringing back. i know its difficult to give an estimate without seeing them but, i was hoping you could give me a rough idea of the sort of price it might cost me.

many thanks.

I’m bored of eating the same foods, are there any foods you can recommend for a person with braces?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

hello, I hate my braces, not the look of them necessarily just the sheer discomfort. I accept that when I have them off my teeth will be better looking than ever, so im not miffed in anyway about that I had the choice of having them. however could you please advise me on a few foods to eat please I’ve been very limited on my new diet primarily to porridges and yoghurt’s as well as soups. I have only had them on probably just over two weeks now and am fed up of the foods I’m eating. the dentist told me a whole host of foods not to eat but not ones I could- and I didn’t think to ask! also how long will I have to wait before this subsides? any help you could give me would surely improve my quality of life right now. thanks for your time Dr Thorne

I have a gap between my front teeth, am I suitable for Invisalign treatment?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Dear Dr Sepehrara, I have a gap right in the middle of my front two upper teeth. this one is quite strange as all my teeth (with the exception of these two) are straight, but these two look like curtains if you will, they both angle slightly away from each other which in turn creates this gap. i’d never really noticed for years (sounds daft but this is true) until I decided to do something about it and got in there and had a look myself. I don’t want traditional braces and think that these would be a bit over the top to consider that all they have to do is close one gap not many. what I wanted to know is whether I would be able to get Invisalign to fix this issue? what do you think? for me Invisalign is the better option if it one you see, if it isn’t an option for this kind of orthodontics than what would be the better option? thanks
