Am I too old for braces?

December 9th, 2013
Q.

Hello,
I am 45 and I believe that I am too old to have braces? I am lucky enough to be getting married next year in the Bahamas and my teeth have always been the bane of my life. They are crooked at the front on the bottom of my teeth. I really would like to surprise my husband to be with a brand new smile and I would like to feel confident on my big day. If I cannot have braces are there any other treatments I can have to make my teeth look straight? Obviously I would like to smile on my bid day and feel beautiful.Thank you doctor for giving your time, take care,

I want to get my wife a smile makeover

October 11th, 2013
Q.

Hello there,
My wife has always complained about her teeth for a number of years. I have heard about smile makeovers from my daughter and would like to get this for my wife as a gift. I think that she would need braces as her bottom teeth are not straight and I would like to get her some cosmetic work that she can decide on. She works as a primary school teacher so I would like braces which she would not be embarrassed about. Can you tell me about the best braces for adults? many thanks for your time

Can I have braces that are discreet?

September 17th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Maini,
I am 29 years old and have crooked teeth all along the bottom of mouth. Generally they are easy to hide day to day but i would like to get them straightened so that I don’t have to worry about hiding them anymore. If possible I would like braces that i can take out because I do not want the health of my teeth to suffer at all as I had a friend who had this problem.I really don’t want fixed braces because of how they look, and I would like something that works quite fast but is gentle as I hate pain! are there any braces which would work for my problem do you think? I have heard about clear braces but i really don’t know much information about them or if they would be suitable for me. If I have to have fixed ones I don’t think I would have braces treatment.

Can you tell me about the new Smart Bracket Braces? Which brace should I choose?

May 18th, 2012
Q.

Hey there! I’ve heard about these new smart bracket braces? I don’t really understand how they work, can you explain? I looked on the internet and couldn’t really find anything, with that in mind i’m not a great user of the web! They look the same as a normal metal brace? With the introduction of invisalign surely people will go for that instead of an unsightly metal brace, I sure would anyway! I’m currently deciding as to which brace to go for, if the new brace system is a lot quicker then i might be persuaded to go for that one! Between invisalign and the smart bracket which do you think is the most practicle? I did think about lingual braces but i have heard quite a few negative reviews about these! Let me know what your thoughts are! Thanks you!

My braces rub against my cheeks, I’m 6 months into treatment, is there anything I can do?

May 10th, 2012
Q.

Hello Darsh Could you please help me with my braces. I like them- as much as this is possible for braces, but only aesthetically. the braces I find rub against my cheeks which have subsequently turned white where small shaves of skin have been damaged. I am only six months or so into my treatment and wondered if there was anything I could do to fix this. are there any long term solutions you can think of? thanks

How is Six Month Smile different to Invisalign and the Inman Aligner?

May 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi there , I am a little confused as to what six month smiles offer. I respect that they are quick and so on but if i had Invisalign or the inman aligner for example they would be much quicker. what I don’t understand is how can these three methods take less than/up to six months when the traditional braces take up to two years? what exactly do they do that these other methods don’t and if it’s nothing then why is this method still in circulation and offered as the main orthodontic treatment? I want braces you see and I’m worried that by vying for a quicker option I will be vying for the wrong option. I want the best and as such need to know these things? cheers

I have a few issues with my teeth, am I still able to have a brace fitted?

May 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi Darsh.
My question is about whether or not I actually can have braces. I had overcrowding problems as a teenager, and after examining my teeth I can see that the dentist has extracted my lower left first premolar and my lower right lateral incisor. Therefore, my bottom teeth aren’t symmetrical. I also have two wisdom teeth that have impacted at an awkward angle. I’m not concerned about my lower teeth, I’m looking to have my upper teeth corrected. My upper teeth are symmetrical but not straight. Before I book a consultation, do these previous extractions on my lower teeth disqualify me for orthodontic treatment or make it more difficult/expensive? Thank you.

I like the look of six month smiles, are they actually that good?

April 11th, 2012
Q.

Hello Anoop. I have looked at various methods and brace types in terms of orthodontics now for some time and have pondered and dilly dallied all the time also! I am now trying to get to get together a plan of action so I can get this done. I have looked at invisible braces as a nice aesthetic option when I stumbled upon the six month smiles. what I wanted to know was whether or not they are a great option? by this I was wondering that as they fix teeth in six months then why isn’t everyone who has braces not having this treatment. would you consider it a goo treatment worth having?

I think I will look a bit daft if I get braces in my thirties. Can you advise?

March 9th, 2012
Q.

Hello Sir,. could you please lay to rest the fears i now have about braces. I have wanted them for a while now but I never wanted the train tracks. As a thirty one year old i feel lI would look a bit daft with them on and I here they take the longest of any treatment. I have been trying to research about things like and Inman Aligner and Invisalign but Have e found a lot of horror stories about both and also stories about how they’ve not worked or lined bottom teeth up with the top etc. what would you say about these types of brace treatment, are they reliable and do they give the correct and desired results? thank you
