August 12th, 2011
Q.

I’ve just had fixed braces fitted to my teeth(train tracks) and my friends recently warned me about my teeth changing colour and leaving white spots were my braces are, if this does happen then would I be able to get tooth whitening on the NHS because thats who I’ve got them off, but the more important question is how do I prevent this from happening? As I really dont want my teeth discoloured hen their beautifully straight

I have spacing between my teeth and can’t get NHS braces, help?

August 12th, 2011
Q.

Hello my problem is that I have a mild spacing in my teeth, which i personally get paranoid about this because this is affecting my bite which is affecting how I eat. I visited my NHS dental practice to ask for braces and my dentist referred me to a hospital to get braces. Then when I go to the hospital and the inspector that was checking my teeth said that braces would not do the job and the only thing I could do would be to operation or going to a private orthodontics. I was obviously upset because of this and then as i went to my next check up i was told from my dentist that my teeth is not in the category mild and i would be able to get braces. I then was obviously confused the reason why i was told that i could not get braces from one place and then I was told from another person that braces would do the job. Because of this i am now in a situation where i have to pay for my braces and i cannot afford it because I am a student. I desperately would like to ask help from someone to help me with my problem and because of this i can’t go out with my friends or smile on the camera for a family photo and this have seriously been affecting my life for the past 8 years. So please someone help me with this problem and I would really appreciate if someone replied back.

Which brace is best for my crooked teeth?

August 10th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I have been looking at braces on the internet for the past couple of weeks and I think that I prefer the look of either the six month smile or the invisalign. my teeth are only slightly crooked but I’d need top and bottom braces . Any chance that you could advise me on which one is best and the average costs? Iam 24 and got all 4 wisdom teeth through if this changes anything, it’s greatly appreciated you having time to read this

Would it be possible for me to get lingual braces on NHS?

August 10th, 2011
Q.

Hello,

I’m 15 and my orthodontist is planning on fitting me with braces. The problem with my teeth is that on my top row, I have 1 baby tooth remaining (due for extraction) without an adult tooth above it ready. He is planning on closing the gap left by this tooth and some other minor gaps, and sorting out the overcrowding on my bottom teeth which cause me discomfort. However I’m really uncomfortable about having fixed braces and I don’t know if he will allow me to have lingual braces fitted on the NHS (I can’t pay for private). I don’t know how I should go about asking for them, I don’t even know if it’s possible to have them. I just really don’t like the idea of visible fixed braces, especially for my 16th, prom, and probably 17th and 18th as well.

Now my braces are off my teeth are become crooked again, advice?

August 4th, 2011
Q.

Hello Doctor, when I was younger about 5 years ago I got braces put on my teeth for 3years(tops and bottoms) because they were crooked and needed straightening not to sort a bite problem out or anything, when I had them taken off i was given retainers to wear until my dentist told me otherwise. I’ve been wearing them like I got told but my teeth have started to overcrowd and become crooked again. Iam just wondering is this problem going to stay as they are or will they get worse? And will I need to get my braces put back on?

Is it better to whiten teeth before or after braces?

July 22nd, 2011
Q.

Hello Dr. Qureshi, I av just turned 40 and going through a divorce. I was thinking about having adult braces fitted to straighten my teeth and to have them professionally whitened, what would be the best order to do this or does it not really matter? Also could you advice me on which are the best type of adults braces? and the price of them, even though this doesn’t matter as my soon to be ex will be paying? Thanks so much this will really help on boosting my confidence up back to when I was 21 🙂

Can I get braces after gum disease?

July 19th, 2011
Q.

I have recently suffered from gum disease but have undergone the correct treatment to sort it out and my dentist has given me the all clear. Do you think i will be a viable candidate for braces? I have a large overbite, which makes me look kinda goofy so I would like to know the best braces for treating this condition. I would like the braces to be a little bit discreet but i don’t mind if they are fixed or removable, as Iam a little self conscious which is my reason for getting braces in the first place.  any advice you could give on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
