How much would it be to replace my 2 front crowns and how much will whitening cost?

October 17th, 2012
Q.

I’m 18 and wants to replace my 2 front crowns. Could you give me an estimate as to how much I need to save up to get new ones. I want all porcelain crowns that look as natural as possible as I hate my current ones that I had done on the NHS. Also one of my crowns protrudes slightly and I was wondering whether that could be fixed with getting new crowns? Is it possible for me to get braces while I have crowns? And finally, if I don’t like the current colour of my teeth (they’re a dull white) and want to go whiter, how much does whitening cost and last? Should I whiten before getting new crowns or after? Thankyou for helping me 🙂

My wisdom tooth has overgrown so it rubs on my gum, do i need this removing? Can i get dental sedation with the NHS?

August 17th, 2012
Q.

Good day to you Adam, My question is not about braces but i see you are a dentist and i wanted to get your opinion on my case before i go to my dentist. I am 26 and my wisdom tooth on the bottom right hand side has grown to a longer length than my other teeth, so when i bite down my wisdom teeth hits my gum and rubs on a tooth. I am very scared of having my wisdom tooth removed as i’ve heard this operation is very painful. I would like dental sedation but can you get this through an NHS dentist? I would like very much sedation but i know it cost extra, how much is this extra? In your opinion would i definitely need this removing?

I’m interested in either Damon, Invisalign and clearstep, I want it to be quick and discreet, which would you recommend?

July 16th, 2012
Q.

Hey Dr Maini, I have been researching for 6 months now the best brace for me. I had a consultation with my NHS dentist before this time and they said my teeth would be fine for most current orthodontic treatments – the three i am interested in is – Damon, Invisalign and Clearstep. Firstly could you clarify the differences between Invisalign and Clearstep, if there is a difference? Which would you recommend. I want it to be discreet that’s why i have chose these three. But i don’t want to be stuck with them for a long time? Therefore if the damon braces are faster i will put up with the tracks on my teeth rather than the clear retainers on Invisalign? Is there a price difference at your clinic between clearstep and Invisalign?

My lower jaw is further forward than my top jaw. Is there a way to change this and can I get it on the NHS?

May 18th, 2012
Q.

Hello Mr Maini, I’m 20 years old and have been very concious of my appearance since before I can remember. My lower jaw is further forward than my top jaw. This makes my mouth slightly open constantly. I have to physically think about shutting it all the time. I never wanted any operations doing when I was younger because I was always too scared. I was thinking there could be a way with some kind of brace? I read that those big cages on peoples heads sometimes are used for cases like mine, is this true? What kind of time scale do procedures like this take? Do you have to wear them all day or can i just wear them at night? Can i get this done on the NHS? Just really wanted some information about it before i go to the dentist. cheers

I know I have to pay for treatment but can I have alternative orthodontic systems at an NHS dentist?

April 11th, 2012
Q.

hello I was wondering what treatments you can receive on the NHS. I have been told you stop receiving the right to have braces for free on the NHS when your 16 but does that mean only fixed braces? I am looking to get braces and upon learning that I would not be able to have them on the NHS (at which point I was willing to have traditional train tracks) I decided to look at what braces are available to align crooked teeth. turns out theres a few and thats why sites like this are up no doubt. If I were to go to a NHS dentist- whetherI haed to pay or not, would I be able to receive any alternative treatments or do they only do traintracks? if so I will go private as to get what I want if im paying for It, and secondly whilst im here are there any benefits of having it done on the NHS or are there advantages of going pivate that outweigh those of the NHS treatment? thanks for any response.
