Hi, im thinking about getting braces i have seen two orthdontists one does clarity sl and the other damon, i was just wondering what the difference was between the two braces, also the clarity sl brace was £1200 cheaper than the damons ive also heard that the damon brace gives you a feller smile its called a bracelift im not quite sure what that means would like to know if the clarity brace gives the same effect and also does wearing braces change your face shape as ive heard on quite a few forums that it does and if it does is it for the better thanyou

What is the difference between clarity SL and Damon braces and does wearing a brace change your face shape?
July 16th, 2012Can you explain how lingual braces work and what is the difference between a dentist and an orthodontist?
December 20th, 2011Hi. I want a brace and am thinking about getting lingual brace. I began to do some research into them when I stumbled across the incognito ones which I think are pretty cool and look good as well as being the linguals I was thinking about getting. I was toying then between the incognitos and the tooth coloured brace but the lingual seems more for me and I can see how these two sets work so It makes more sense for e to do this. If I decide to have this done where do I go. I mean it wont be my dentist and all my friends have a dentist- then an orthodontist for any of their brace work. I know that an orthodontist is someone who specialises in tooth straightening and so on but what is the difference between an orthodontist and a specialist like yourself? and can you tell me a little bit about the incognito’s, I want the treatment to be as good as it can be despite the effort i am nervous! cheers

I don’t think my Inman Aligner treatment is straightening my teeth properly, what can I do?
December 20th, 2011Hello doctor , my case is that i have a very big overbite, and now a few months ago, i went to a cosmetic dentist for treatment and i was given the imnan aligners fitted on my upper and lower teeth, i have been wearing them , but apart frm both sides of my teeth looking straighter, the over bite still remains the same which is of concern i must say. When i expressed this to my dentist, she told me it takes longer for some people.what can i do?I fill am just wasting time wearing them as my teeth are almost the same as before i had them. thank you for your time

What is the cost of invisible braces?
December 14th, 2011I am a 35years old mother of 3 and I am currently in Nigeria but will be back in the Uk soon. My teeth is similar to the picture 7 of your gallery. What type of braces did you use and the cost? I am very worried because I can’t smile and it has given me a huge inferiority complex. I have seen other dentists here but I am not confident that they will do a good job. Please advice me on the braces, is invisalign or the hidden braces. Thanks fro your help as I await your reply. Thanks!
I have an overbite I wish to fix for my wedding in May, is this possible?
November 28th, 2011Hello Dr Patel,
I have a slight overbite (according to dentists but I think it’s huge) plus teeth that are not straight, especially my front teeth. I’m getting married next year May and was wondering if there is enough time to fix my teeth by orthodontic treatment.
The problem I have is cosmetic but affects my smile and confidence. I have heard about the Inman Aligner but it only fixes bottom teeth. I’m really conscious about having a great smile for the big day and want to know if there is enough time to fix them.
Thank you
Why doesn’t my orthodontist adjust my brace more often?
November 28th, 2011 Hi Sharon,
I have been advised by my Orthodontist to wear braces.
I’m currently wearing metal braces on top teeth since last year and I had them tightened and adjusted only twice since then.
I am no longer in contact with my Orthodontist and I am not sure if I should continue the treatment or if it’s possible to remove them without any risk for the teeth. I’m also not confident if braces were the best advised option in my case.
Many thanks

What is therapeutic diagnosis?
November 16th, 2011Hi Sharon, I have been researching into braces an have seen something called therapeutic diagnosis- or something along the lines of this. basically it talks about not having to take a tooth out when having a brace (just incase that’s not what its called, my apologies if it is I do not mean to patronise you, it is me that needs your help!) it made me think about whhy, I remember a few years ago my mate having a brace removed and moaning that her face looked different- I didnt think so, so I dont know. what is this method and why does it exist? it is possible to alter ones face when having a brace? seems a little over the top to me but as I am considering getting a brace (which I have been apparently doing for too long now) I would just like to know. cheers

I feel like my Invisalign aligner isn’t putting enough pressure on my teeth, does this ever happen?
November 4th, 2011Hi Sharon, I’m a little confused as to orthodontic treatments for me, I went for a consultation about six months ago whereby I was told my crooked teeth were suitable for Invisalign treatment, which is what I really wanted at the time as they just offered everything I wanted for stuff I didnt mind going through at all. the problem came later, short while after I had my impressions taken and given my retainers i followed treatment correctly getting new retainers at approximate two week intervals. anyway when I got and started wearing my third retainer I couldn’t feel any pressure on my teerth at all it felt like the second one had done near the end of its lifespan, I went back to the dentist and he rightfully pointed out how they were indeed different, so at that point we took more impressions and went again, the new retainer felt better but we then had the same problem with what would have been the fourth instalment of retainers. my dentist suggested that they wernet moving my teeth hardly and that I should look at other appliances? have you seen this as being the case before now and what appliance should I go for If my teeth are barely crossed as they are now when Invisalign struggled to move them? what would be your next step if at this point I was your patient?
