I like the look of six month smiles, are they actually that good?

April 11th, 2012
Q.

Hello Anoop. I have looked at various methods and brace types in terms of orthodontics now for some time and have pondered and dilly dallied all the time also! I am now trying to get to get together a plan of action so I can get this done. I have looked at invisible braces as a nice aesthetic option when I stumbled upon the six month smiles. what I wanted to know was whether or not they are a great option? by this I was wondering that as they fix teeth in six months then why isn’t everyone who has braces not having this treatment. would you consider it a goo treatment worth having?

My wife needs help with her braces when briefly returning from India. Can you help?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

Hi,
My wife’s jaw and teeth need to be straightened.
They are a bit pushed forward.
She is in India now. She cotacted her dentist there and he can fix it using either American technique or English technique.
But, it is a year process. She will be travelling to the UK next month.
So, she cannot continue her treatment in India.
The doctor in India will put the applicances for straightening the teeth (may be American technique) and she needs the help of a doctor to check it every month.
Is it something you can help?
Regards

Is it possible to have a brace without the need for tooth extraction?

February 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi I have long considered braces as my teeth have overlapped, I am currently 24 and as such I belive I have stopped growing and I dont intend on putting masses of weight on so my teeth should stay pretty much where they are now. I have been looking at the procedure involved when having braces and I am not overly keen on having a tooth out. Im no dentist but after looking at the size and distance of/between teeth I dont think I need it. I’m sure there is a name for this procedure. could you recall it for me if I am right, If not could you please advise me, thanks a lot, it’s appreciated.

I don’t know whether to have STb lingual braces or Incognito, which do think is the better brace?

December 2nd, 2011
Q.

Hi Sharon straight in there then, Is it possible to change orthodontic courses during treatment? I am in the run up to getting a brace and have my heart set on a lingual brace behind my teeth but I am not sure which. all the examples I have seen have been STb so I assume that theyre good/common which tends to be the sqame thing but i prefere the look of the incognito, If I was to get the STB but found it to intrusive would I be able to get it removed then have the other one put on? is there a particular thing that would stop me or is it just frowned upon in general? tah

What is the best treatment to straighten my mildly crooked teeth?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

Dr, I think I am going to require braces as my teeth have stared to cross. a few years ago it wasn’t all that bad but over the last couple of months my teeth seem to have slipped if you will and appear to have moved more than they have in the last year or so! I want to stop it before it continues as hopefully that is possible. from your experience what is the best method of treatment for teeth that have just started to cross and are not yet that bad? I want to be able to hav the best treatment I can and at twenty three Im going to have to pay no matter what so I’m certainly not paying out to have the old fashioned ones as they’re disgusting! could you please advise, thank you in advance for any reply

Is there an alternative to the rather pre-historic head strap on my brother’s brace?

November 17th, 2011
Q.

hello
my younger brother had been given a strap/elastic band thing that he has to wear as part of his orthodontic treatment to fix his over bite before he grows up. He’s thirteen now and has continually told me how much he hates and as his brother I can see how much it bothers him wearing it and the distress it gives him. I said I’d find out if there was any other treatment he could have as I really feel for him- he does lok an absolute tool with them things on it looks like something from the 1950’s and i thought we would have sinse moved on and had something better to do the job. is this the case Dr? and if so what treatments would this be applicable to? thank you very much

Should I have a brace before getting lumineers?

November 9th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I have had three lumineers after I chipped three the three teeth in question after a rather nasty accident at work. these ahppen to be on the same row of teeth thats started to overlap. I dont know why I thought that at the age of 32 my teeth/facial features as well as my self has stopped growing, this doesn’t appear to be the case. one theory I have is that they were never flat (that’s actually the case) in that they over lapped but to a point that no-one would notice and now thay have just slipped and all of them have began to over lap slightly the issue I have got is that one of the lumineers has cracked and broken off right in the bottom corner – I think as a result of the teeth moving as they have. so firstly this needs replacing and I don’t know if this is possible. but I would want to do that ideally after Id had a brace of some form to straighten them out. I have money from my claim the first time round left so that’s not an issue, do you thin that I could have a brace on these lumineers and is it possible to then have one removed/replaced? cheers

Why has my dentist given me Invisalign lite?

July 27th, 2011
Q.

I only have around four weeks (two aligners) left of my invisalign treatment left to go. One of my top front teeth and the tooth next to it still arent aligned and look as though they have quite a bit to go until becoming straight- should I be worried that they wont be straight in the time left? Also I paid £3000 for my upper and lower invisalign but I have just noticed on my aligner packaging that is says invisalign lite- this isnt something my dentist discussed with me and now i am worried as i have heard that invisalign lite does not include refinement aligners which may be needed. I dont want to end up having to wear metal braces as that is why i went for invisalign in the first place. many thanks for your help.
