How can i get straight teeth?

October 24th, 2013
Q.

My two front teeth bend severely inwards but over the years my dentist hasn’t pushed for me to have anything done about it. In the past I have been told that in order to wear braces I would first have to have some teeth extracted as I have overcrowding. So, say I have some teeth extracted-then what braces would be best to make my two front teeth straight and realign the rest of my teeth? I don’t want the most expensive treatment but I don’t want them to really stand out…Any help or advice you could pass my way would be fantastic. Thanks

Will I have a gap in my mouth after my tooth extraction?

February 14th, 2013
Q.

Hi I’m just wondering if I need braces because I recently had a dentist appointment and he was looking at my teeth and said it looked a bit overcrowded. I have like a vampire tooth sticking out which he noticed and he said would I like it taking out? Does it bother me? And I said no it doesn’t bother me. Recently though, I have come to realise that I feel uncomfortable when I smile because of that tooth. So I’m thinking if I get that tooth out will it just leave a gap or will my dentist give me braces?

How much does it cost for tooth contouring and can it help with a gappy smile?

November 20th, 2012
Q.

Sorry, I have a couple of questions. Firstly, how much would it cost to have pointy teeth ‘shaved’ down and reshaped? Secondly, I read somewhere about ‘contouring’ — where small gaps between crooked teeth can be filled. How much would that cost? My canines are really pointy, as are the teeth between the canines and the front two, because they have been twisted around due to overcrowding. It would be these four teeth that I would like fixed. Also, I have a lot of problems with my jaw (possibly TMJ) and I think my crooked, overcrowded teeth have been caused/worsened by my jaw problems. Is there any treatment available on the NHS that could be used to fix these problems. For example, tooth extraction followed by basic braces? Is it ever possible to get NHS help for other types of braces, or are basic metal braces the only ones they will pay for?

Are lingual braces a good choice for straightening crowded front teeth?

June 8th, 2012
Q.

hello

what is your opinion on lingual braces for straightening really crowded teeth? I really like the idea of them, but i would like to know if there are as successful as normal fixed braces attached to the front of the teeth? My crowding is mainly around the front of my mouth and I just wondered is it likely that I will have to have some teeth removed? I would prefer if i didin’t but beggars can’t be choosers can they!!

many thanks for your time on this matter

Will six month smile be able to fix flared teeth?

February 24th, 2012
Q.

Hello Anoop,

I have noticed the website picture of the lady you treated had slightly flared teeth, which you successfully corrected.
Did the lady have flared teeth?
My first six upper and lower incisors are flared, due to a tongue thrusting habit I had as a child. I do not want to have tooth extractions.
Would the six month smile be effective in treating me? I was really impressed with how the treatment that was carried out worked so well. How much does the treatment cost?

Regards,
Natalie

Why would my teeth begin to crowd at the ago of 39?

February 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi there
My bottom set of teeth have been crowding for the past two years (Im 39 years old) it got so bad that I bit the front off my lower front tooth and thought it wise to have it removed to free some space – as the pressure felt too much (it could not be crowned). Why would they start crowding so badly? I did have my wisdom teeth removed as they were sideways on and never going to appear. Could a remnant of tooth be left in the gum that has decided to travel – it appears only on one side. I truly believe the gap will close because of the pressure I have been experiencing. I really need to see an orthodontist. Would you have an x-ray on the back teeth?

Is it possible to have a brace without the need for tooth extraction?

February 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi I have long considered braces as my teeth have overlapped, I am currently 24 and as such I belive I have stopped growing and I dont intend on putting masses of weight on so my teeth should stay pretty much where they are now. I have been looking at the procedure involved when having braces and I am not overly keen on having a tooth out. Im no dentist but after looking at the size and distance of/between teeth I dont think I need it. I’m sure there is a name for this procedure. could you recall it for me if I am right, If not could you please advise me, thanks a lot, it’s appreciated.

Is there any way to have porcelain veneers and pay for them later?

January 23rd, 2012
Q.

I have hated my teeth since I was very little. When I was younger, my dentist said my mouth was too small to accommodate all my adult teeth and I had about 8 removed. Since then I have continually (due to cost) just kept getting my teeth removed if I have a problem as the thought of having silver fillings or the cost of other treatments have meant I have to keep having them out. I now have a mouth of squint teeth in bad condition because of this and I’m only 27. I did have an appointment to find out about getting at least a brace and I was told this would cost in the region of £5000 and half of this would have to be paid upfront then monthly instalments there after. I would in all honesty , chop off my arm to have beautiful teeth as this has been my hang up since I was a young child. Recently, I got married and I tried my hardest not to smile showing my teeth, but as it was such a happy occasion and the photographer kept asking me to smile with my teeth, I can’t bring myself to look at my photos. I have a terrible credit history due to a previous relationship where my ex left to to pay for everything as when we split up, he stopped working to all the creditors chased me. I’m not looking for a sympathy vote, just to ask if you know of anyway I can have veneers done on my top teeth without having to pay a huge deposit or use a credit reference agency. Do you know of any dentists who will let me pay them up for the treatment before I actually get it so they know I am an honest person, just stuck in a horrible dilemma? Hoping you can answer some of my questions. Many thanks

Will my veneers and tooth extractions affect my chance of having brace treatment?

December 20th, 2011
Q.

Dear Sharon, I am 48 years old and have always dreamed of having straight teeth but through the years it has always been put aside for another day, until now… I have seen an advert on Inman alligner braces or STb Lingual Braces. If I have 2 veneers, one either side of my two front teeth and 2 extractions at the top towards the back, in your experience would I be possibly unsuitable for brace work?
Many thanks,

December 14th, 2011
Q.

My son who is now15 years old has protruding teeth and difficulty in closing the mouth perfectly because of this ,The local doctor advised him to go for orthodontic treatment seeing his case . After making the mold and photos he advised to extract 2 premolars each from upper and lower jaw . Was x ray not needed to confirm , which teeth is to be removed or it can be decided just from the mold and photographs ?
