My arches won’t line up as a result of thumb sucking as a child. Would orthodontics provide a solution?

February 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi Mr Patel,
I was just wondering if you can give me rough idea what treatment you think i would need. I have an overbite due to sucking my thumb when i was young and i my top & bottom arches do not match up, i know you wont know 100% what treatment till you see me but if you could just give me a rough idea. I have seen another dentist and paid quite a bit just for a consultation & was not happy with what they told me as i believe they were just trying to get as much money as they could out of me. I do have all the details they wrote about my teeth if that would help. I am hoping i can have braces that can be put behind the teeth, do you do that?
Also do you charge for consultations? If so how much?
Hope to hear from you soon

Brace options and crowns in mouth overhaul before son’s wedding

February 17th, 2012
Q.

Hello Darsh. I have been investigating into different methods of orthodontics available to me. I will be attending my sons wedding in just under a year. after recently fixing problems between us I have now vowed to turn myself around for him, how embarassing would it be for his dad to look a scruff at his wedding “who’s that?…” “…my dad!” no. I’ve recently had surgery myself so i was wondering what would be the best- and for me that’s the least invasive treatment for overlapped teeth. they are not that over lapped but due the colour they were they looked horrible. I have had extensive cleaning done at the dentists and my teeth whitened a shade (I didnt spend to much time on this as I’d have to do it again after a brace, it just helps in a meantime i guess). I also need a crown but don’t know whether to do this after or before. I’m so nearly there. I’ll just need a hair cut and a shave nearer the time and he’ll be proud!!! thanks for your help.

Is there an alternative to straighten my teeth other than fixed braces with long treatment time?

February 9th, 2012
Q.

Hi there,
I am 36 years old man and I suffer with a lot of problems with my teeth. Very crooked, crowed and terrible bite and misalignment teeth especially the canine tooths. Both on top and bottom. II have seen a lot of orthodontists that all conclude that I need a proper traditional braces therapy and allow at least 3-4 years to provide results in my case.
I come across your profile and images of your case studies. after I search for more info for the inman aligners.
I wonder if these new aligners can help complicated cases as well.
I have to say that I am interested for some improvement at least if possible. I am not well prepared to use traditional braces for 3 years.
I am also interested for other ways to fix my smile despite the fact that I know I can destroy healthy teeth.
Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks

Would Invisalign or the Inman aligner be able to fix my canine teeth that stick out slightly and are rotated?

February 9th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I would like to correct my teeth. Althought the front 6 teeth are straight, the teeth behind disappear intot he back of my mouth. When I smeile, you only see the front teeth. My canine teeth are stick out slightly and are rotated. I want to correct this, I have been to a local dentist for a consultation. He suggested Inman Aligners (as that’s what the practice offers) althogh he did state that there was a chance they would not move the teeth as much as I would like. Would Invisalign do the job? I don’t mind having full old fashioned braces if it will move them enough but I’m finding less Dentists offering this. Please can you help Raha?

Could braces lead to even greater discolouration of my son’s teeth?

February 8th, 2012
Q.

Hi, My little boy’s teeth are heavily stained, despite having an excellent oral hygiene routine. However, as a baby, he was very ill with asthma and chest infections and constantly took steroids and antibiotics, and my dentist now tells me this could be the cause of the staining. I am broken hearted to see his teeth like this, can it be fixed at some point,as his dentist thinks he may have to have braces to correct his bit which is slightly off, not due to his jaw but his teeth, so he wont be in for surgery just a full brace at some stage, though this will surely make his teeth even more discoloured?? I don’t know what to do and its all going so fast, He is 10 years of age and has a mixture of baby teeth and permanent. if you could help that would be amazing. thank you

I have six teeth and a partial, what can I do to make them all align?

January 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi, On my bottom, I only have 6 teeth in the front, and a partial. One of the end teeth is leaning inward, and is causes bad wrinkles around my mouth. It is getting worse, What can I do to fix this? Can It be corrected without braces, also would I be a candidate for the iman aligners? I am on a tight budget. I need to fix this because my new partial was shaped badly to mask the leaning tooth. Now my right side of my smile is way off. Please help by telling me some options. Thanks

Can invisible braces move my underbite or will I still need surgery?

January 16th, 2012
Q.

i have crooked upper and lower teeth and an underbite (not a massive underbite but jutting out slightly more to the left). when i was 14 or 15 i was fitted with braces and told i’d have to wear them for two years, i think. i was told that i’d then have surgery to move my bottom jaw backwards and into place. after a few days of having the braces fitted, i couldn’t take the pain and cut the wires. i’m now 26 and this is a massive regret. i get jaw ache, the underbite and crookedness of the teeth has worsened and i’m constantly hiding my smile. i’d like to get it sorted. three questions: 1)would it be possible to get those invisible braces fitted? 2)how much would it cost in a private surgery, roughly, to have straight teeth and no underbite 3)how long would it take? thank you in advance

Should I have baby teeth removed and get implants or have braces?

January 4th, 2012
Q.

Hi, When I was a teenager, my canines grew over the top of my baby teeth. In an ill-advised decision, I had the adult canines removed. 10 years on, i am trying to decide on the best option to fix this problem as the baby teeth are going to fall out eventually. Either way i have decided to get orthodontics to straighten my teeth as top and bottom are crooked. I have seen three orthodontists. They said i basically have 2 options. 1: remove the baby teeth and get implants or 2: remove the baby teeth and move the molars around to close the gap. I think I would prefer option 2 as it is the cheaper and appears to be better in the long term. My question is if it is possible to expect a normal looking smile by pulling the molars around and can the 1st molar be shaped to resemble a canine? Do you have any recommendations on which option might be preferable?

My teeth have moved after wearing braces, can I have more orthodontic treatment?

January 3rd, 2012
Q.

I have had problems with my teeth since I was a child (I am now 24). I had cut all my adult teeth at a young age, and suffered bad overcrowding. I had 4 molars removed when I was 9, and then a brace for approx. 4 years followed by a retainer. My wisdom teeth came through in my late teens, and although they have never caused me pain I have recently had to have one removed due to decay. Idealy, I would like the remaining 3 removed as they are causing overcrowding again. After my orthodontic treatment, my teeth were really straight. Now, after so many years of treatment, my top front teeth are VERY crooked. It is a real problem to me, and really gets me down. I feel so let down after everything I have gone through, and feel it is a constant battle to get any dentist to listen to my worries. I am getting married next year and really want to feel confident then! I was told a while ago when I asked for another brace to be fitted that it would not be possible as my teeth had already been moved so much, another brace would cause them to become loose. Is this true? What treatment would you reccommend? Thank you so much for your time.

Are my braces progressing as they should?

December 23rd, 2011
Q.

Hi, on Saturday I got my top braces (I’ll be getting the bottom ones later) and my 2nd premolar on the left side (the last tooth with a bracket) has descended a bit, which makes it impossible to bite down on that side, since only that tooth touches the jaw teeth. It is also the most sensitive tooth, I think I might be able to chew more solid food already if it wasn’t for that one tooth. Is it normal and should I just wait until my next consultation (about a month from now) or was it not supposed to happen? If it just sore and I’ll be able to chew with it soon?

Also, my dentist mentioned something about extracting teeth. I’m not sure she’s planning on extracting some or just thinks it’s a possibility, but I don’t have any overcrowding, I just need to fix an overbite and correct my arch. I will probably take my wisdom teeth out, wouldn’t that make room for these adjustments?

Thank you.
