How old is too old for braces? What alternatives are available?

Hi im 35 and when i was younger i had braces, but i was never given retainers to keep my teeth straight. now im older my top teeth are really forward and i hate them. My question is am i to old to get braces and what braces would you recomment as i would ike invisalign braces. Also im quite scared in getting braces because of my age and ive had bad experiences of the dentist and have had bad gum disease in which ive now been treated for after finding a good dentist. Any advice would be great.Thanks

How do I clean my teeth with braces, and how long will I have them?

Hi I have just turned 16 and finally getting braces fitted. I am only getting them on my top teeth as my bottom teeth aren’t too bad. Please could you tell me how long the average person would normally have these sort of braces on for (they are fitted braces if they helps). So what I would like to know if theres an estimated time that I should have them on for or is it different for every person? also could you give me some advice on how to clean them and stop my teeth from discolouring whilst they are on, I want my teeth to remain white as well as straight.

How do braces actually work and do i need them?

Hi there last week my regular dentist told me that I will need need braces and that she’s referring me to a orthodontist during my check up. But I just don’t understand how braces work, you like when they are actually overlapping or crooked. how do they push your teeth into a straight line? does it not hurt all the time? Is there any way of straightening teeth without braces as i have heard alot of horror stories about them?

I am having braces on the NHS but i dont know which exactly, what am I having done?

Hi I am 14yrs old and at the end of the month I am getting some sort of brace fitted on the NHS however I am unsure what type its going to be. All that I have been told it that its like a metal plate that goes under my mouth, and it will make space for when i get my fixed braces(train tracks) put on. please do you think you could give me some information on what to actually expect and what exactly is being done to me? thanks for your time

I have crooked teeth but at 18 must I have braces?

Hey doc, I was just wondering, my teeth are really quite crooked and some overlap slightly. I am 18years old and as such don’t really want to be wearing metal braces for the next 3 years. Do you think it would it be possible to get fixed braces now to sort out my overlapping and then switch to invisalign to generally straighten my teeth out afterwards? or is this not possible/ maybe not practical? thanks for any help you can give as i really do not fancy having braces until I am 21!!!

What is the youngest age that you can get braces?

Hi adam my daughters 10 and got crooked teeth, whats the best type of braces for her? also whats the youngest that you can have braces as i dont really want her starting secondary school with braces/ crooked teeth as i was bullied for it when i was younger. I’av already asked our dentist but he doesn’t seem in any rush to help. we live in york and i am more than willing to pay, thank you for any tips that you could give me

I am getting bullied, can I get NHS braces?

Please can you help me? Iam 13 and really need some help. Iam getting bullied at school because i have really bad buck teeth and all my teeth are crooked. would braces be able to fix this for me? Would I get the braces on the NHS, if not how much would it cost? how would i go about doing this? It’s got to the stage when i feel like i cant even smile and when i laugh I have to cover my mouth. Why are my teeth crooked if both my parents’ are straight?

doc, i want to have a good smile so much but I have got bad teeth. I sometimes wonder why i had bad teeth formation because both my parents have nice straight teeth. I want to have the same nice straight teeth and would want to know how much it cost and where exactly a good dentist who will give me a good smile. One more thing, I am just wondering are there some foods which cause this or do teeth just go crooked by themselves. I get so annoyed and upset when i can’t laugh or even sing in church without covering my mouth up. i really really need help

Iam sixteetn years old and really feel like i need braces, my teeth aren’t just crooked but they are overcrowded and hurt when I put too much pressure on them such as when I bit into a apple, Ino i’ve left it late bu I’d really want braces on the NHS to help me with this problem, I’ve mentioned it to my dentist but he’s not paid any attention to me, please help? btw Iam 17 in december but am still going to college next year if this helps. Which brace is best for my crooked teeth?

Hello, I have been looking at braces on the internet for the past couple of weeks and I think that I prefer the look of either the six month smile or the invisalign. my teeth are only slightly crooked but I’d need top and bottom braces . Any chance that you could advise me on which one is best and the average costs? Iam 24 and got all 4 wisdom teeth through if this changes anything, it’s greatly appreciated you having time to read this
