Can I have traditional metal braces to close gaps and correct my bite?

April 4th, 2012
Q.

hi Adam, I have few gaps between my teeth and i would like the old style metal braces, the bottom row of my teeth is fairly straight and neat enough. I sometimes have this funny feeling when I am swallowing, my jaws feel like hey are dislocated. I havent been o my dentist as I dont feel she is very helpful or even care to be honest. Roughly how much would it cost and how long will I need to wear them for?

My braces seem to big and have irritated the inside of my cheeks?

March 16th, 2012
Q.

Hi. Mr Patel I have been recommended to this site by a freind who used it previously and had contacted you- in doing so she had recieved ‘excellent feedback’ -quote. I was wondeing if you could help my situation. I have a full brace/traintracks. I don’t particularly like them of the truth is told but i assumed I wouldn’t so ill deal with it for the final outcome which i hope to be very happy with. the issue im having however cannot be ignored for now. the clasp things that the wires are anchored to seem too big and really irritate the inside of my cheeks, rubbing and the like, the skin there has gone white and has peeled. it does hurt now and agan when it catched but otherwise its just really annoying, is there anything i can do about this? cheers

My wife needs help with her braces when briefly returning from India. Can you help?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

Hi,
My wife’s jaw and teeth need to be straightened.
They are a bit pushed forward.
She is in India now. She cotacted her dentist there and he can fix it using either American technique or English technique.
But, it is a year process. She will be travelling to the UK next month.
So, she cannot continue her treatment in India.
The doctor in India will put the applicances for straightening the teeth (may be American technique) and she needs the help of a doctor to check it every month.
Is it something you can help?
Regards

What options would you recommend for mild overlapping?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

-Dear expert- I am twenty four and am toying with the idea of having braces. I think though they may be a bit of an overkill considering the condition of my teeth. my bottom teeth have a slight overlap whilst the upper teeth have a slightly lesser overlap. In all without being able to see them they arent very bad and i had thought that a brace would have been a bit too much to go through to have this fixed. You can see my issue? I dont want to have 18 months to two years treatment in order to fix something that isnt that broken? what options would you recommend for straightening mild overlapping? thanks

Should I have Six month smiles or Invisalign to fix my crooked teeth?

February 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi Anoop. I had braces just over a year ago but had them removed just over a year into my treatment because they had clearly made no effect on my teeth what so ever. I know this because the impressions on my old gum shield were exactly the same as those made in putty after this duration of time of treatment. I was really miffed off considering my teeth were only crossed- and not to the greatest extent I might add. I was wondering if i would be a good candidate for Invisalign or six month smiles with mildly crossed teeth? or will my previous treatment have jeopardised this? thanks

What’s the quickest treatment for me: Invisalign or Six Month Smiles?

January 30th, 2012
Q.

HELLO Mr Maini. I would like to ask you about orthodontics, I have heard now for a while that there are orthodontic treatments available that are either quicker than traditional methods or ones that help/work along side, I have looked at six month smiles along with invisalign. I believe I would be a good candidate for Invisalign given the state my teeth are in (not too severe). but i have also now spotted AcceleDent that runs coherently with treatment to speed it up. If i am looking for a quick treatment (before the end of this year) which option would you say is consistently best to go for the invisalign, acceledent or six month smiles, as I know this is a your forte as such. thanks Dr

I think my dentist is an idiot, he’s done nothing for me what do I do about my teeth now?

December 20th, 2011
Q.

Hi there, let me explain a little about my teeth: I was lucky enough to have all my teeth come in straight, however I never liked my front teeth because they were never completely vertical. They have always been at somewhat of an incline which makes me not like my smile. I was told by an orthodontist that this problem could be corrected and so I got full braces on my top and bottom teeth for two years. However I think this guy was an idiot because having braces did nothing to correct the problem. My front four teeth are still at an incline and they are above the rest of my teeth. Is there anything that can be done?

I had a bad reaction to a tongue piercing with the bar being metal, will a brace give me the same issue?

December 20th, 2011
Q.

hello Darsh. I have an issue that I think may stop me getting a brace but I am not sure. I have had my tongue pierced which gave me a lot of problems. the pierced site got infected and the bar had to be removed at hospital where they suggested there was nothing unusual about the piercing site and that they thought the infection was more a reaction to the metal from me so not an infection that was brought about by malpractice or poor hygiene around the site. I am now worried that- being metal also that a brace will have the same effect? I initially wanted a lingual brace but quickly rubbished it as it would again be on my tongue and I’m not sure what the deal is with a tongues health if it gets two infections in such quick succession? do you think I would be OK to have a traditional brace on without having any issues? I will strongly value your opinion, thanks

How does Six Month Smiles fare in comparision to traditional braces?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I have gaps between a few of my front teeth and everyone, family and local dentist has suggested I have braces that’ll sort them out. yes they probably will. but I don’t want braces i have never heard one person say they didnt mind them- everybody hates them and everyone else hates to look at them! admittedly i know of nobody that has regretted treatment as they all now have straight teeth which is why I do want treatment of some form. I have looked at your website and see you are a top provider of six month smiles. these appeal to me massively for obvious reasons being that its quicker. does 6 month smiles have the same drawbacks as traditional braces just over a smaller amount of time? in terms of eating and so on. and will my teeth need no further corrective treatment/attention/retention after treatment is completed?
