Is the Inman Aligner the best option for my tooth crowding

November 9th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I want to have braces but I feel the may cost to much. I am forty and a single dad I have been told that If I want anything other than traditional braces it will get quite expensive, i have a little bit of money stashed up like but i wanted to know how much alternatives will cost, I’m in Dudley just outside Birmingham so I do manage to avoid London. I don’t want my kids seeing their old man with train track braces, you know what kids are like though if they saw an inman it’s be cool or whatever, I only have mild lower tooth crowding I just feel now is the time to do it, financially and whilst I’m still at this age no older. how much on average would you say an inman aligner would cost? what are the alternatives and (sorry) are there any dentist in Birmingham or nearby that you would recommend for this type of treatment? cheers

What treatment should I seek for my gapped and protruding teeth?

November 8th, 2011
Q.

HI Dr THORNE. I have issues with y teeth and don’t know whether or not braces would be able to sort them out? the two front top teeth are gapped and have beeb for as long as I can remember the dentist had hoped that they would close when I grew as a child but they never did. the two teeth either side however seem to start protruding from the gum at their own line higher than that of the rest of my gum line, they are no use in terms of chewing die to the position they keep. by and large the rest of my teeth are fine and sound but these four will require I think extensive work to make them comply so to speak. what would be your course of action at this point to give me some idea as to what mine should be from now.

I feel like my Invisalign aligner isn’t putting enough pressure on my teeth, does this ever happen?

November 4th, 2011
Q.

Hi Sharon, I’m a little confused as to orthodontic treatments for me, I went for a consultation about six months ago whereby I was told my crooked teeth were suitable for Invisalign treatment, which is what I really wanted at the time as they just offered everything I wanted for stuff I didnt mind going through at all. the problem came later, short while after I had my impressions taken and given my retainers i followed treatment correctly getting new retainers at approximate two week intervals. anyway when I got and started wearing my third retainer I couldn’t feel any pressure on my teerth at all it felt like the second one had done near the end of its lifespan, I went back to the dentist and he rightfully pointed out how they were indeed different, so at that point we took more impressions and went again, the new retainer felt better but we then had the same problem with what would have been the fourth instalment of retainers. my dentist suggested that they wernet moving my teeth hardly and that I should look at other appliances? have you seen this as being the case before now and what appliance should I go for If my teeth are barely crossed as they are now when Invisalign struggled to move them? what would be your next step if at this point I was your patient?

When is best for me to have braces?

November 2nd, 2011
Q.

hello doctor Patel (SO). I have been referred to my orthodontist from my dentist with recommendations to have braces fitted. I have crooked teeth and was promised to have them done when I was younger. I feel the dentist let me down and wanted me to be of an age whereby I had to pay for them- which I am now at. I feel a bit gutted about this but the issue is that I left college in June and took a year out before hopefully going to University next September, in this time I had hoped to travel. my main concern is that braces and appointments once I have had them fitted will hinder me from doing this which I am not going to get many more chances to do. Thing is I definitely don’t want them at uni! If I took a year out again between second and third year and travelled then, do you think I could have a brace now that would pull crooked teeth to a normal position by next September (obviously I can last a few months of uni with brace), so we’re looking at a year or so, what should I look at?

Which treatment is best to straighten my teeth?

November 2nd, 2011
Q.

Hello,

I am considering getting a brace to correct my top teeth.

My two teeth either side of my front teeth stick out,, i think my two front teeth may be too far back?

Anyway which do you think would be more appropriate, the discreet social 6 lingual brace or the inman alighner clear braces.

Thanks

Why do I have to wear a retainer and how long would I have to wear it for?

November 2nd, 2011
Q.

hey, OK I have had a brace for nearly two years now, I’m bothered about this as I can see my teeth are nearly done which is nice, I know I will then need to have a retainer after the brace as my dentist has told me. what I don’t understand is why I need a retainer? If my teeth have been moved back to their proper/current position then why would they relapse back into a place that’s no right just to be awkward. I’ve has these braces for a while as the brace had to improve my bite as well as my crooked teeth. surely my mouth will not return to having a bad bite as well? also how long will I have to wear to retainer for I don’t want to have to have it all my life you see? cuold you please advise me on retainers, I would really appreciate to know more about them and where I stand with them, thanks

What is the fastest brace treatment for crooked teeth?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Hi Sharon- I am looking to have braces but I don’t want traditional ones as they are not quick enough. I have been offered a job in Florence, Italy that I am due to start next December and I wanted to sort out my smile before I went if this was possible. I was advised to go and see a specialist orthodontist but I don’t know where there is one local to me so I figure I’d ask one then visit my normal orthodontist. basically I have crooked teeth, quite badly on the bottom and very slightly on the top, I know you can’t see them but what do you think would be the quickest way to sort them out? Can you have invisalign on one row (top in my case) then another form on the bottom or does it not work like that? what would you recommend for straightening crooked teeth quickly?

I have large protruding teeth at the front of my mouth with a crack, would I be suitable for braces?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Hi Doc,
I’m 24 and my four front upper teeth are big and protruding forward that when i close my mouth you can slightly see the two front teeth,i mostly avoid taking pictures while smiling since my teeth are big and facing outside, the worst thing i have a big gap between the two front teeth and are stained brown since i was young, of which i dont know the reason for the stain since am the only one in my family with stained two front teeth out of four children.
The two upper front teeth are so sensitive to cold drinks and i detect a crack across one teeth..so my fear is,is it possible i have the straightening braces without my cracked tooth falling down…and if yes for how long will i have them.
Thanks,i will appreciate your help.
