What options would you recommend for mild overlapping?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

-Dear expert- I am twenty four and am toying with the idea of having braces. I think though they may be a bit of an overkill considering the condition of my teeth. my bottom teeth have a slight overlap whilst the upper teeth have a slightly lesser overlap. In all without being able to see them they arent very bad and i had thought that a brace would have been a bit too much to go through to have this fixed. You can see my issue? I dont want to have 18 months to two years treatment in order to fix something that isnt that broken? what options would you recommend for straightening mild overlapping? thanks

Could the inman aligner work for me as I work out the country a lot?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

I have wanted to get my teeth straightened for along as I can remember. When I was 12 I had a retainer the brace to try and fix the problem but was unfortunately unsuccessful, I should had gone for the fixed braces.
For many years I have looked into all different types of methods but I have never been able to afford the treatment.
Today I have came across the groupon offer for inman aligners. Also it would just be the top that I would like to get done.
Another thing is, I work out of the country quite often and I am only home for a few months at a time, Is this something that would be a big problem with inman?

My teeth have basically rotted after an eating disorder. What options do I have before getting married?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

After suffering with an eating disorder over 12yrs ago my teeth have basically rotted away. I had veneers done on the front 4 teeth but they were poorly done and i feel like i was ripped off. The teeth need realignment and then whatever maybe needed to give me a nice mouth full of healthy looking teeth. I am due to be married but i want to have any treatment completed before i walk down the aisle. What are my options? Should I have my teeth realigned first and then have other treatment on top of that? thank you

My teeth are misaligned and crooked but the hospital won’t even see me. Why?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

Hello Mr. Patel.  I’m 18 and from the West Midlands I have a problem with my teeth. They are crooked, mis-aligned and cause me a great deal of distress. Many people will never see me smile because I’m far too self conscious to do so.( I should note that both my teeth and gums are healthy and don’t cause my any discomfort apart from the occasional ache as my wisdom teeth came through last year.) I finally plucked up the courage to go to my first dental visit when I turned 18 but because of my age I do not qualify for free NHS orthodontic treatment. My dentist did refer me to the Hospital but it turned out I wasn’t eligible.

My problem is that the hospital have not seen my teeth and I do not believe they can make and informed opinion without looking at them. Even my dentist believes they would be of benefit to me. They couldn’t of seen pictures or X rays to make the decision because I only just had them done today

I apologise for the long message but I really would appreciate your professional opinion on what I should do because I’m really desperate to get my teeth fixed and I do not have the financial support to go private.

Thanks,

I am near the end of my Invisalign treatment but am not totally happy. What can I do?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I am currently having invisalign in London. I am basically at the end of treatment, I had 11 trays, and now am on 12+ on both top and bottom, but my orthodontist didnt really want to give me the 12+ trays. It was only because I am still concerned by teeth aren’t fully straight that he did this. It’s one tooth on top inparticular which hasn’t fully rotated. I was given the impression that if this didn’t sort it, there wasn’t much more he would be able to do. I have seen online that some clinics offer refinement with invisalign… Do you know if this is true for all clinics and whether it would be included in the original price? I was told when I signed up that at the end of treatment, he could make little tweaks if you weren’t completely happy with the treatment. What do you think? Many thanks.

When will I begin to see a change in my teeth with Invisalign?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

Hello Ms Sepehrara I need to askk you a question about invisalign. I have read your profile and have looked on your site and can see that this is your forte as such. so then, I have been wearing the Invisalign braces for just under two weeks and am due for my second set soon. I have been told that there will be four sets of these braces/aligners used. I have seen no apparent difference up to now and was wondering how the changes required would be made over the next three at this rate…
Could you please tell me hen I would start seeing improvements in my teeth shape or whether I should have already and some things wrong. thank you Dr for your time.

What kind of protection should I get for my braces when playing rugby?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

Hello, I have a question to ask regarding my braces. I have upper and lower fixed braces and have been asked to play in a rugby match. I’m not sure how much protection I need. Do i need a double gumshield to play contact sports? I’m not sure whether i need to cover my lower teeth as well, or would a single ‘boil and bit’ gum shield sufice?. A reply would be much appreciated. Hopefully I will get a reply in the very near future. Thanks.
