I’m thinking about having Invisalign treatment but I smoke, will this be a problem?

June 29th, 2012
Q.

Hey Anoop, I have a question – I’m thinking about having Invisalign treatment soon. There is a problem that I know is my own fault, I smoke around 30 cigarettes a day, I have done for years and I really struggle to cut down. Just wondering will my smoking have an effect on the brace or if my teeth and gums will be more susceptible to rotting or disease? Are you able to take the brace out every time I smoke, Or will this slow my treatment down quite a bit? Is there another option that i can go with that will be better for me or does it not make a massive difference? I know smoking is bad for my mouth in general but just wanted to know if i was putting my teeth and gums at more risk with a brace?

I’m worried about having my train track brace taken off, can I have some reassurance?

June 29th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I can’t quite believe it’s been two years since I had my brace on but in 3 weeks time I’m getting them off. However I’m a bit worried about the process, a few of my friends have said that it really hurt when they have to grind the cement of my teeth. I’m probably been silly but I was just trying to read up about it, could you tell me a bit more about how they take the brace off? It’s a normal train track one. I’ve not been very brave throughout my treatment to be honest, always worrying and crying 🙁 I didn’t have to have any teeth out before I had it on, if I would of had to I don’t think I would of got a brace. Hopefully it will be okay, but I’d love some reassurance 🙂

My teeth are weak and wobbly, is it possible for me to have braces?

June 8th, 2012
Q.

Raha i was hoping you could help me – Ever since I was younger my teeth have been very weak and I have quite a lot of movement in them. They always seem a little bit wobbly and not secure. I’m 20 now and am getting really sick of not having the healthy teeth that I’d like. I think it’s mostly genetic because my father has really bad teeth too, always breaking. I did want to consider having a brace, but just wanted to know if I could have any treatment to strengthen my teeth before having one? If there is no treatment could i have a brace with my teeth in the state they are? What are my alternatives if not? Implants? Hope you can help, cheers!

I am allergic to nickel, what brace options do I have?

June 8th, 2012
Q.

Dear Adam, I’m 22 years old and I really want a brace. The only thing is I’m allergic to the nickel that they use in the traditional braces in the NHS, I get very bad blisters when coming into contact with this, i can a number of different allergies, it’s a nightmare! I cannot afford expensive private orthodontic treatments. So I was just asking if there are cheaper braces that don’t have nickel in them? I also wanted to ask what the elastic bands were for, I have seen a few people with them stretching from the top to the bottom of the jaw? Thanks you for your time!

Is there any way to fund Invisalign treatment?

June 8th, 2012
Q.

Hi Raha, My daughter has recently had braces on, she really did need them, she was really unhappy with her appearance and didn’t like going to school. So we have had a brace fitted but her mood has gone even further downhill. I think she’s getting bullied at school. I was wondering if there would be a more discreet way for her to have this treatment. I know there are ways such as invisalign but they are very expensive, is there any funding that we can get or a finance option at your clinic? I’m not sure what the best way to tackle this one is? What is your advice? Thanks!

My train track brace is causing a lot of mouth ulcers, is this normal?

June 8th, 2012
Q.

Hello Adam, I was wondering if you could help me. I have recently (3 weeks) had a train track brace put on, My dentist said It would take some getting used to but over the last few days I have being getting a lot of ulcers on my gums and tongue. Is this a normal experience or could I have picked up an infection? Are there any creams or gels available? I’ve tried bongella but this doesn’t seem to work? I was thinking as I haven’t been eating a lot of solid food due to pain from my brace, this could be a cause, but just wanted your advice, to see if there was anything to be concerned about? Many thanks!

Are lingual braces a good choice for straightening crowded front teeth?

June 8th, 2012
Q.

hello

what is your opinion on lingual braces for straightening really crowded teeth? I really like the idea of them, but i would like to know if there are as successful as normal fixed braces attached to the front of the teeth? My crowding is mainly around the front of my mouth and I just wondered is it likely that I will have to have some teeth removed? I would prefer if i didin’t but beggars can’t be choosers can they!!

many thanks for your time on this matter

Is there any way I can get braces even though I am currently having problems with my wisdom teeth?

June 1st, 2012
Q.

Morning! Could you please advise me, I’m having a fair bit of trouble with my wisdom teeth coming through. It’s been a very long process, i think they first started to come through 2 years ago and they just stop and start when they please but I’ve heard this is normal. I’m in absolute agony when they do, my whole head feels sore and painful. Could this be to do with an infection or are they coming out wrong or something? I’ve wanted braces for the past few years but didn’t know if it was a good idea while my wisdom teeth were still coming through? If so how long is it before they usually come all the way through? Or could i still have some kind of brace when they are coming though? Thanks you!
