Is Dental bonding good for filling gaps on my four front teeth or is a brace the better option?

August 30th, 2012
Q.

Is Dental bonding good for filling medium gaps on four front teeth? What is the best dental bonding material? I considered veneers but the dentist said that dental bonding would be more suitable for my bite as veneers might break or chip off. I would like minimal preparation to my teeth. What about braces? Is there any type of brace that is suitable? My teeth are healthy and straight but have medium gaps to the four upper front teeth. Could cerec material be used for filling the gaps. Could this be done with minimal preparation of teeth so that it could be reversed if required.

My teeth are very weak, but i would like a brace to straighten my teeth, will i be able to get one with a history of weak teeth?

August 30th, 2012
Q.

Anoop can i have your advice please. I am 30 years old and when i was young i had a few problems with my teeth, they are weak and break quite often when i eat hard things or bash my mouth in sports. I have had a few teeth crowned and that has strengthened them slightly. I would like to get a brace, which one i am not sure. I just wanted to know if dentists would say yes or no to me for having a brace with my history of weak teeth? I don’t want to put too much pressure on them so maybe do it very slowly? Also is there some kind of way i get get strong teeth? i try and drink milk with calcium but it hasn’t worked yet?

I’m not keen on braces so what options are available to correct my tooth that isn’t straight?

August 30th, 2012
Q.

My front tooth is angulated to approx 30 degrees. I would like to consider what options are available to correct this and how do i get this corrected in the quickest way? (and at what cost?) not keen on braces. In addition, i would like my teeth to be whitened after this problem is corrected. what options are also available for this?
I would be most grateful if you could help with this.
Thanks.

My top wisdom teeth are pointing outwards, they are not causing any pain but they just rub against my cheek, what should i do?

August 30th, 2012
Q.

Alright Darsh, My top two wisdom teeth are almost completely through, they are pointing outwards, towards my cheeks. They are not causing me any pain or discomfort but i wanted to see if there are any braces available to straighten wisdom teeth. I thought because they are far back in my mouth, a plate would not be possible as it might be quite uncomfortable? As i said it doesn’t hurt but it’s just a little annoying them pointing outwards and rubbing on my cheek. I would look into having them taken out, but is this not quite major dental work? I’d obviously prefer to just have some kind of brace. Thanks for your help!

With Damon Braces do i need to change my diet to stop it staining the brace?

August 30th, 2012
Q.

I’ve had Damon braces on for around 2 weeks, I was thinking about if my diet had to change? I know there are certain foods i shouldn’t eat like chewing gum and sweets, but are there any foods that help keep my teeth clean or strengthen them? Is it possible that the Damon braces change colour with the diet or drinks that i have? I do drink a fair amount of coffee will this have an effect, like it does on teeth. I didn’t know if the material that the braces were made out of would be able not to get stained, or if they do can you get the plates changed? So yeah what’s a good diet to have when you’ve got braces on basically? Thanks Darsh!!!

My wisdom tooth has overgrown so it rubs on my gum, do i need this removing? Can i get dental sedation with the NHS?

August 17th, 2012
Q.

Good day to you Adam, My question is not about braces but i see you are a dentist and i wanted to get your opinion on my case before i go to my dentist. I am 26 and my wisdom tooth on the bottom right hand side has grown to a longer length than my other teeth, so when i bite down my wisdom teeth hits my gum and rubs on a tooth. I am very scared of having my wisdom tooth removed as i’ve heard this operation is very painful. I would like dental sedation but can you get this through an NHS dentist? I would like very much sedation but i know it cost extra, how much is this extra? In your opinion would i definitely need this removing?

Is it okay to have my teeth whitened while having invisalign treatment?

August 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi Anoop, I’m just in the middle of my invisalign treatment on plate #6 it’s going really well, i like how loads of people don’t even know i have it! I was just wanting to know if its a good idea or not to while i’m still wearing the plates to whiten my teeth with self whitening? Or get it done at a dentists but that just costs a lot more! I also wanted to know what do dentists feel about home tooth whitening kits, i’ve heard mixed things really, that your teeth get really sensitive and sore? Does this still happen when you have it done at a dentists? If i could have your advice that would be great! I don’t want to do something that will damage my teeth! Thanks Annop!

I think i might have an abscess under my tooth, will this affect my Invisalign treatment?

August 10th, 2012
Q.

Hey there Raha, I’m about 4 weeks into my Invisalign treatment, everythings been fine up till now but recently i have been having some trouble with one of my teeth on the top. Whenever i bite down on something i get a hard shock going through my tooth – its very very painful! I think i may have an abcess underneather my tooth. What is the best way to deal with this? Because if the tooth is pulled out then will this not affect my Invisalign treatment? I’ve spent a lot of money on it and don’t want it to be a waste but the pain is really excrusiating! Is there a way to get rid of the abcess without pulling my tooth out? Thanks raha, look forward to your reply!

My son is 12, his adult teeth have come through crooked, would you recommend Lingual braces?

August 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi there

do you recommend lingual braces for younger patients? My son is 12 and his adult teeth have come through pretty crooked and he feels self conscious as it is. Im not sure if the invisible braces look advanced enough to straighten his teeth out, so if he has lingual braces it would combine the two best aspects of the two different braces and he wouldn’t feel awkward.

I just worry that because his teeth have only just come through that he won’t be suitable for the braces/

what do you think doctor?

thank you
