How can i get straight teeth?

October 24th, 2013
Q.

My two front teeth bend severely inwards but over the years my dentist hasn’t pushed for me to have anything done about it. In the past I have been told that in order to wear braces I would first have to have some teeth extracted as I have overcrowding. So, say I have some teeth extracted-then what braces would be best to make my two front teeth straight and realign the rest of my teeth? I don’t want the most expensive treatment but I don’t want them to really stand out…Any help or advice you could pass my way would be fantastic. Thanks

I am allergic to nickel, what brace options do I have?

June 8th, 2012
Q.

Dear Adam, I’m 22 years old and I really want a brace. The only thing is I’m allergic to the nickel that they use in the traditional braces in the NHS, I get very bad blisters when coming into contact with this, i can a number of different allergies, it’s a nightmare! I cannot afford expensive private orthodontic treatments. So I was just asking if there are cheaper braces that don’t have nickel in them? I also wanted to ask what the elastic bands were for, I have seen a few people with them stretching from the top to the bottom of the jaw? Thanks you for your time!

How safe is it having orthodontics abroad?

December 14th, 2011
Q.

I have been thinking about getting braces but cannot afford the lingual ones I want in the UK. What is the status on having orthodontics abroad now because I figure a lot of dentist go abroad to train and join groups etc. yet you so often hear horror stories about receiving treatment abroad. is it simply that people sill dont trust foreign clinics or is there a genuine concern with going abroad. if you can save money in the process then how can it be a bad thing? Im not saying this is what im doing and not listening to anything else, im trying to find out what’s best and consulting people in the know like yourself. what would you recommend on the subject?

If I have my braces removed early can I have a percentage of the treatment cost back?

December 7th, 2011
Q.

I am an adult and yesterday I had fixed braces attached to my lower teeth due to having three slightly crooked teeth. I now regret having this done as my friends and family said there was nothing wrong with my teeth and I realise this now. I realise that I probably sound very silly but I now wish to have the brace removed before any movement occurs and I wondered roughly what percentage of the total treatment cost I would be able to get back, if any?

Thank you

I have gaps and a few other minor problems, how much would a brace cost for me?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

hi ian,

i am 27 years old and am considering having a brace fitted to straighten my front four top teeth its mainly needed to close gaps however the outside left of the four is slightly twisted, facing inwards, and the middle two are ever so slightly sticking out, and would need bringing back. i know its difficult to give an estimate without seeing them but, i was hoping you could give me a rough idea of the sort of price it might cost me.

many thanks.

Which braces are best for my teeth?

August 1st, 2011
Q.

Hi,I am concerned that I need braces,as I am going to university this September, and would really like them to be discreet and as unnoticeable as possible. I have looked into things such as lingual braces and Invisalign, and was wondering what your professional opinion of these treatment methods is. Price is definitely a factor,as I am only covered by the NHS up until the age of 19,and the severity of my problem is ,I doubt high enough to warrant any NHS treatment. My problem with my teeth is that my two front teeth (upper)are being pushed back by the ones adjacent to them, possibly due to overcrowding. The lower teeth are all straight, and do not bother me at all.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can I get my rabbit teeth pulled back?

July 26th, 2011
Q.

Dear Ian, I underwent a course of braces when I was in my teens and as I’av grown up and my wisedom teeth have come through then I feel like its pushed my front teeth too far forward and that I have buck teeth (rabbit teeth) and I hate it, is it hard to get teeth pushed back in? And if not what is my best brace to do this and what’s the cost. Iam 25 by the way if that helps, thanks so much for your time
