Q.
I have a question regarding my situation.
I was fitted dental braces (traditional wired braces) through the NHS 6-7 years ago, and at the time I was 11-12 years old. I had 2 upper pre-molar teeth removed from each side. After having braces for 2 years, the braces were removed. I was instructed to keep wearing the “clear plastic braces” for 1 year regularly. In fact, I carried on wearing the clear plastic braces for 2-3 more years (to the point the ends started cracking and breaking off). I stopped wearing them, and now, around 2-3 years on, I am worried because my upper teeth are spreading out severely, causing a gap between my front two teeth. My teeth seem to be in worse alignment than they were before the treatment. When I put on the clear plastic braces now, my teeth and my gums hurt so much I cannot bear the pain. I have told my dentist this problem a few years ago, and he made me some new clear plastic braces which do not work as the moulds were taken of my teeth when they were already spreading. I am now 18, and I am wondering whether there are any ways of me receiving treatment (i.e. get braces) through the NHS? Thank you for your time in considering my question, I would appreciate it if you could answer my question.
