My dentist wants to remve enamel before fitting my braces, is this right?

Q.

Hi Doctor, I am a bit confused. My lower arch teeth are a bit crooked. I went to a dentist a few days ago and he proposed to fix them with minimum impact with a Social 6. he said this would involve scraping off a bit of the enamel of my teeth to provide for extra room for the teeth to move back into position.
I felt comfortable with the the dentist, and I was quite pleased the treatment did not imply removing my wisdom teeth, but after doing some research it seems like fixing the front 6 teeth (as apposed to the whole arch) and, above all, scraping the enamel off my teeth is not the best thing to be done. What do you think?

Can STb social 6 braces treat back teeth too?

Q.

Dear Dr Hutchison,

I am interested in having the STB social 6 braces treatment but have a few questions.

Firstly, I know the treatment provides rapid movement of the teeth. Is the risk of root resorption increased compared to conventional braces? If so, by how much?
Secondly, I notice from the pictures and case studies that the brackets and wires are placed only on the anterior teeth, leaving the posterior teeth not to be treated. Is it possible to have the posterior teeth altered as well, or is the whole point of the STB social 6 braces to adjust only the anterior teeth?
Can the treatment be successful with partially erupted 3rd molars?
Lastly, once the treatment is complete, do you give a retainer of some sort to ensure that the teeth do not move back into their original position?

I would greatly appreciate it if you could take some time to answer these questions.

Warm Regards,

Dr Ian Hutchinson
