How does Six Month Smiles fare in comparision to traditional braces?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I have gaps between a few of my front teeth and everyone, family and local dentist has suggested I have braces that’ll sort them out. yes they probably will. but I don’t want braces i have never heard one person say they didnt mind them- everybody hates them and everyone else hates to look at them! admittedly i know of nobody that has regretted treatment as they all now have straight teeth which is why I do want treatment of some form. I have looked at your website and see you are a top provider of six month smiles. these appeal to me massively for obvious reasons being that its quicker. does 6 month smiles have the same drawbacks as traditional braces just over a smaller amount of time? in terms of eating and so on. and will my teeth need no further corrective treatment/attention/retention after treatment is completed?

If I break my braces how far will it put me back in terms of treatment time?

November 2nd, 2011
Q.

HEllo, I’m a full brace wearer top an bottom- old train tracks. I have a question regarding the course of treatment involved with braces. If I damage my braces how far can it put me back?for example if, as I am on an approximate 18-10 month course of treatment, if I damage the braces and have to go to the dentist and have them fixed how long could it set me back? I was told that this could be the case when I had them and have been warned on my two adjustment appointments since then as well, but If for example I snap a wire then I don’t see how I could loose a lot of treatment time other than that spent waiting to have it fixed and indeed having it fixed? please could you help advise me’?? thanks

Why aren’t my braces off after two years of treatment?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

I Have fixed orthadontics systems fitted to both rows of my teeth. I am absolutely hate them and have for the duration of my treatment, I will live though because I know its all about the end result and im happy to wait it out to see this. the problem is that When I had my initial assesment before the braces were actually fitted I was told that my treatment time was predicted to be around 20-24 months to close gaps in my gap teeth. We’ve just passed 24 months and the teeth have not yet closed I wanted to ask you If You knew how long it should take for traditional braces to close a consistent gap of initially about 2mm Id say in the treatment time I’d say its just about halved that gap- which in theory leads me into another two years of braces which isn’t happening no matter what the end result? what are your thought on this situation please I fell like the dentist isn’t taking me seriously.

How frequently will I need to visit my dentist once my braces are fitted?

October 27th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I saw an offer on Groupon to have Invisible STb Lingual Braces on either your top or lower teeth for £975 (inc. retainer). However, in the next few months, I will be travelling on and off. Can you please let me know how frequently I would need to have appointments once the braces are fitted – and is it a big problem if I am away for, say a month, and can’t have the appointment during that time. Any other advice you have would be appreciated too. Thank you. Louise

I need 3/4 teeth moving, will six month smiles be good enough and can I spread the cost?

October 19th, 2011
Q.

Hi,
I am in my forties and have crooked front top teeth which I really want sorted out. I am limited by time as I work abroad on 6/7 month contracts and I have seen the 6 month smile option which seems attractive. Can I pay monthly for this sort of treatment? I am in London from November for a few months. I only need 3/4 teeth moving to straighten them as I have a small gap they can move into. Are there any other options for me? Thank you

I have ridges on my teeth around my braces, what are they, will they damage my teeth?

October 13th, 2011
Q.

Hello, a few months after having my fixed braces put on i noticed some bumps/ridges on my teeth above or below some of the brackets which look like they’re made of a tooth type material. i have now had them on for around one and a half to two years so i believe they should be coming off fairly soon for which I cannot wait. however, I’m really scared that when my braces come off that i will have noticeable bumps on my teeth or that they are damaged, will this need more treatment?

Tell me about the Damon braces, why are they better than the traditional types?

October 12th, 2011
Q.

I have been looking at what different braces are available, not at any great length just in a leaflet thing that was passed out the other day as I mydelf am looking to have braces of some form to sort out a smile full of crooked teeth. I wanted to knoww what are the main advantages of Damon braces over traditional ones? Is it purely that they are smaller and look slighlty better? because im having the same issue with lingual braces and incognito versions. in terms of the Damons Its the price they are so much more expensive and i cannot see why this is the case could you please anlighten me, any feedback may infuence my decision thankyou very much for taking the time

Is it only metal braces available on the NHS? How long would treatment time be?

October 3rd, 2011
Q.

I am trying to get braces for my child he needs them, he is currently 15 and had crossed teeth which are pretty bad, ive looked at your case studies on this website and was impressed with the way the teenage boys have turned out (the third case study on there) as my boy is in a similar point right now i wanted to know how long they would take to get to that point of being straight when they are overlapped and the gum line is uneven my son does not have an overlap/bite. what braces can i get that would sort this out are available on the NHS or is it just the traditional braces that are? i know you cannot be exactly sure but an estimate of how long it would take also would be amazing thank you

I am getting a TPA fitted, what braces can I get?

August 12th, 2011
Q.

Hi,

I’m getting braces on the 14th September in Guy’s Hospital. I’m going to have 4 teeth extracted after having my TPA fitted.

I’ve been seen in the orthodontic department in Guy’s Hospital.

My Questions:

I was wondering whether or not I’d be able to find out about the different kinds of braces there are.

Also, which braces would i be able to get under the NHS?

How long do teenagers have a TPA for?

What do you think of my treatment plan?

How long do people have braces for?

Do I have to get traintrack braces, are there any other options?
