Can you tell me about the new Smart Bracket Braces? Which brace should I choose?

May 18th, 2012
Q.

Hey there! I’ve heard about these new smart bracket braces? I don’t really understand how they work, can you explain? I looked on the internet and couldn’t really find anything, with that in mind i’m not a great user of the web! They look the same as a normal metal brace? With the introduction of invisalign surely people will go for that instead of an unsightly metal brace, I sure would anyway! I’m currently deciding as to which brace to go for, if the new brace system is a lot quicker then i might be persuaded to go for that one! Between invisalign and the smart bracket which do you think is the most practicle? I did think about lingual braces but i have heard quite a few negative reviews about these! Let me know what your thoughts are! Thanks you!

My lower jaw is further forward than my top jaw. Is there a way to change this and can I get it on the NHS?

May 18th, 2012
Q.

Hello Mr Maini, I’m 20 years old and have been very concious of my appearance since before I can remember. My lower jaw is further forward than my top jaw. This makes my mouth slightly open constantly. I have to physically think about shutting it all the time. I never wanted any operations doing when I was younger because I was always too scared. I was thinking there could be a way with some kind of brace? I read that those big cages on peoples heads sometimes are used for cases like mine, is this true? What kind of time scale do procedures like this take? Do you have to wear them all day or can i just wear them at night? Can i get this done on the NHS? Just really wanted some information about it before i go to the dentist. cheers

I’m having an unpleasant experience with my orthodontist with no results, can I have a second opinion?

May 10th, 2012
Q.

Hello Darsh,
I am having an unpleasant orthodontic treatment with my orthodontist for over two years and no positive result is seen so far. I would like to have a second opinion of a specialist orthodontist and maybe do this in writing.
My question is, how much does it cost?
I would need to find out is she doing the treatment well and what further is needed to be done to achieve a great result. I am considering to switch an orthodontist, so this is very important to me. Please let me know. Thank you

Best Regards

My braces rub against my cheeks, I’m 6 months into treatment, is there anything I can do?

May 10th, 2012
Q.

Hello Darsh Could you please help me with my braces. I like them- as much as this is possible for braces, but only aesthetically. the braces I find rub against my cheeks which have subsequently turned white where small shaves of skin have been damaged. I am only six months or so into my treatment and wondered if there was anything I could do to fix this. are there any long term solutions you can think of? thanks

My jaw dislocates itself, a brace would really help, can I get it on the NHS?

May 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi , I am 19 years old and still in full time education as I attend college. I am currently receiving physiotherapy to my jaw as it tends to dislocate itself on a regular basis. I have had a few accidents in my younger years which I have had to receive 2 operations in my mouth my teeth are very crooked and chipped. As i am receiving physiotherapy my physiothearipist was saying how a brace would really help keep my jaw in place as they could put small elastic bands around the braces, but as I am over the age of 18 I do understand that the NHS don’t tend to cover it. Is there any chance because of my circumstances that I could receive braces on the NHS?

How is Six Month Smile different to Invisalign and the Inman Aligner?

May 10th, 2012
Q.

Hi there , I am a little confused as to what six month smiles offer. I respect that they are quick and so on but if i had Invisalign or the inman aligner for example they would be much quicker. what I don’t understand is how can these three methods take less than/up to six months when the traditional braces take up to two years? what exactly do they do that these other methods don’t and if it’s nothing then why is this method still in circulation and offered as the main orthodontic treatment? I want braces you see and I’m worried that by vying for a quicker option I will be vying for the wrong option. I want the best and as such need to know these things? cheers
